2nd Quarter:

• January 23rd pm: Report cards turned in to Kathy (HAG) or Sarah (K-2) or Jeff (3-5)

• January 24th pm: Administration returns report cards to teachers with comments

• January 26th 8:00 am: Damita finalizes reports in PowerSchool

• January 30th: Report cards are in the teachers’ hands

• January 31st: Report cards go home

3rd Quarter:

• April 3rd by 8:00 AM: Report cards turned in to Jeff (3-5), Kathy (HAG) or Sarah (K-2) 

• April 4th pm: Admin returns them to teachers with comments

• April 6th 8:00 am: Damita finalizes reports in PowerSchool

• April 17th: Report cards are in the teachers’ hands

• April 18th: Report cards go home

2nd Snow Day - Tuesday, January 10th

Tuesday is an optional teacher work day;

• Building opens at 8 am
• Building closes at 4 pm
• Certified staff report for work or utilize annual leave
• If you are short AL and do not want to report on Tuesday, NO WORRIES - You can work a "L" day over spring break or at the end of the year
• You may work a partial day and take AL for the remainder
• Our parking lot is not crystal clear - BE SAFE on your entry to the building
• Mr. Kirby has the sidewalks and mobiles in decent shape, but still be careful
• Student make up day is June 9th
• Teacher assistants are not to report on optional work days 

We hope the warm weather Tuesday provides enough melting to allow us to serve students on Wednesday.  

SNOW DAY

I just spoke with Mr. Kirby and he is planning on opening to work on the sidewalks and ramps at 11:00.  I will check on our progress and let you know how it looks later on Monday.  Stay safe and be aware that the make-up day is Monday February 13^th.

Thursday Post - January 5th

I am dropping the MM (morning message) from the blog and the good morning as many of you will choose to stay informed at times that suit your needs.

• Our Magnet fair sign-up needs CREW support.  Please consider supporting our school with an hour of your time this Saturday - weather pending
• Celebrate new life with Anna Brown this Friday in the media center.  The baby shower begins at 3:30, well before the snow!
• Keep Lisa Weber in your thoughts as she recovers from some muscle and nerve flares.
• I will use the blog AND email to keep you posted on any information regarding weather related school issues.

Return of the BLOG!!!!

I believe that updates to the blog format will help improve our school-wide communications.  Allow me to frame this through our WSFCS Core Value of Accountability.

I will will be accountable by; 

• Creating and posting a BLOG which informs the week ahead by 7:00 am Monday (or the first day of the instructional week)

Summer Post #2 - July 7th

Let's take a moment to appreciate Laurie as we had a clean audit yesterday! I was able to spend a few minutes visiting as I delivered food and she is recovering well and is in good spirits.

I have 38 t-shirt orders, THANKS. If you need a size that is not indicated, just type the size next to your name and I can adjust as I retrieve the data from the google doc. I will keep this open and place the order on July 21st.

I spent some time yesterday with the results of our NC Teacher Working Conditions Survey.  The report that I am asking you to review compares the results of 2016 with 2014.  Other reports are available that compare us to the state and district, but seeing the decline in our perceptions over the last two years calls me to connect this data with our EL Work Plan, SIP  & NCSTAR Indicators.  NC Teacher Working Conditions Survey is a live link to this report.

Enjoy your summer and I will post from the Leadership Induction PD as my new style for the blog will be developed during this session. I have "skeleton" plans for improved communications for 2016 that compartmentalize information for targeted audiences.  One plan includes the use of Haiku.
