Friday, September 13th

Su and Brandi are at an Instructional Facilitators meeting to;

• Plan strategies for utilization of our K-3 ELA diagnostic tool, I-station
• Understand and apply the accompanying intervention resources with I-station
• Develop a plan for an ELA and Math Diagnostic tools for Grades 3-5

Several times a day, students run by my office on the sidewalk outside.  They are often in pairs or small groups and unsupervised by staff.   My questions:

• Why outside?  It seems the hallways are more secure and safe with movement norms.
• Should we mandate/demand that our students who travel in pairs or groups without teacher support, MUST move within the safety of the hallways?
• How do we support students who need to use the restroom at recess?
• Does every mobile have a "student" exterior key for restroom movement?

I want to remind you all that I will be off campus on Monday and Tuesday as I visit my parents.  I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday the 18th.

Wednesday, September 11th

I have visited the memorial in New York and will travel to the Flight 93 memorial later this month.  I miss my innocence that was lost on September 11th 2001.  Yet, my loss pales in comparison to many others who continue to grieve.   Please take this day to elevate our HOC's of compassion and empathy for each other.   

Crew Pre-Game for all staff is  tonight at 3:30 in the media center.  Our student Crew kick-off is delayed until the 20th of September with the initial session occurring on Wednesday, September 25th.

Tuesday, September 10th

Beginning of Third Grade Assessment is administered today throughout the building.  Please provide a quiet environment so  students can do their best on this standardized NC Test.

Wednesday @ 3:30 we will have our Crew Kick-off in the media center for all faculty.  Bring Core Practice #23.  Your text coding provides evidence of preparation and commitment to Crew.

Monday, September 9th

PLT's begin today.  Support the Kindergarten and 1st grade dismissal with a collaborative/crew spirit. 

Please continue to eat with your students though the month of September.  We know that modeling and immediate feedback over the first 30 days, will positively impact lunchroom habits for the remainder of the year.

This is our first multiple sub day as we have staff at RRtCP (Reading Research to Classroom Practice) PD and others with family concerns.  Please hold Mrs. Parris in your thoughts as her mother passed away on early Saturday morning.

Friday, September 6th

Welcome Bookmarks Author, Stacy McAnulty!  She will present to our 4th & 5th grade students @ 1:30 in the media center.  

Today we promote our final two HOC's Empathy and Compassion.
