Wednesday MM - April 29th

Good Morning!

The annual College Fund campaign is underway. This scholarship fund helps make a college education possible for promising students who would not otherwise be able to afford it. Donation cards will be placed in mailboxes today. Donations may be made by cash, check, payroll deduction, or online by credit card. Place your completed card in the brown UNCF envelope in the office by May 28. Direct any questions to Linnea Patrick, campaign coordinator.

Please consider changing the life of a young person in this meaningful way.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

I am at an EFPA meeting at CO and will be back on campus soon.

We will continue to practice "Paper-Free" methods with our Volunteer appreciation.  Kathy will send a google doc to get RSVP as we need numbers for planning and purchasing.

Tuesday MM - April 21st

Good Morning!

In recognition of Earth Day, April 22nd, the STEM Team is asking all staff to participate in “Worksheet-Free Wednesday.” This means that, for 1 day, teachers will not utilize any worksheets, but will explore other instructional tools.

The team decided that a worksheet is defined as anything that has been printed or copied by the school system (on-site or print shop). Students are welcome to write in journals, read print literature, etc. We’re not shooting for paper-free, just worksheet-free for now! J

On the morning announcements we will share some stats about paper use at Brunson and ask students and staff to be aware of how we can be better stewards of our environment. Thank you for joining us in this effort!

Congratulations to Kelsey Byrd!  She was recognized at the STAY banquet for First year teachers as a PROMISE nominee.

Monday MM - April 20th

Good Morning! 

My Son turns 18 today!  What an amazing journey with many more chapters to be written.  

We still have time to "write" chapters with our students.  Provide guidance and direction for them to grow with and without your leadership.  The possibilities are endless when we remove limitations concerning their potential.

Faculty meeting Wednesday for information regarding our PBIS/Mix-It-Up/Field Day.

Our OM teams that are headed to the WORLD competition in Michigan are fundraising to offset the costs of travel and accommodations. Below is copy from an e-mail sent by the coaches;

On behalf of the two Brunson Elementary teams who earned a spot representing the State of North Carolina at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals competition in East Lansing, Michigan, the following two fundraising sites have been established to help both teams raise the funds needed to travel to World Finals.

Please share the two links below with whomever you deem appropriate (i.e., family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, churches, business, etc.). Please protect everyone’s privacy by deleting everyone’s email address before you forward.

Our PTA has set up a PayPal link on the Brunson Elementary PTA webpage to accept tax deductible donations.

Tuesday MM - April 14th

Good Morning!

Welcome Sarah Boddy for a day full of Expeditionary Learning!  Please plan to meet with Sarah during your specials time in the PLT room. Bring 1 or 2 learning targets you have already planned to use later this week.

Early release day plans are for us to meet as a faculty at 1:30 then split in to our PLT's to assess our indicators of goal progress.

At the end of our ER day the specialist and 5th grade team will meet to discuss End-of-Year scheduling.  Please attend this if you have any desire to assist.

5th grade needs your help - Friday the cafeteria will serve a grab and go breakfast as the cafe and gym will be converted for the fairy tale ball.  Please be in your classroom ready for students at 7:50 this Friday as students will need to eat in the classroom.
