Monday, February 27th - READ across America Week.

What a fantastic weekend.  I see such beauty in spring and enjoy being present in the moment.  Here's to keeping that spirit alive all week @ Brunson!

We have our 2nd WSFCS learning walk on Thursday March 16th with Dr. Roseboro, Dr. Squire & Mrs. Costello.  In PLT meetings this week we will share the "look-fors" as the focus is to correlate lesson plans to instruction.

Wednesday is an Early Release Day (ERD) with EL/PD from Dee Duncan.  She has incorporated faculty CREW throughout the session and will fully engage us in the following LT's;
  1. I can describe how using learning targets engages and supports students.
  2. I can use Habits to help students be more respectful, collaborative, and growth-oriented.
  3. I can use Habits to help students track, reflect on, and share their progress
I am looking for CRAZY socks right now.  Please participate with your CREW in Read Across America week.

Thursday, Feb 23rd

Reminders:

Today @ 9:00 ~ Intruder Lock-down Drill
  • An intruder drill means we will move straight into our "hidden" locations with lights out and doors locked
  • There will not be a prior announcement to "stay in your location, but continue working"
  •  The administrative team will be moving throughout campus knocking on the doors listening through the door
Missing Sports Equipment:
  • Our after school Y program is continuing to have balls missing from their supply closet (beside Mr. Kirby's room on the 1st floor). If you see any of the balls (soccer, basket, or foot) that have "Y staff, Y programs, etc." written on them, please return to the office.

Monday, February 20th

I cannot recall a February where we've had SO MANY days of beautiful weather.  The impact on student learning will be positive if we promote joy on the playground.  I am not asking you to increase supervision, pre-correct or perform magic.  I am asking you to model joy with your students before, during and after recess.  Create the conditions for your CREW to value sharing good times and laughter together.

We have a few items to highlight in the week ahead;

  • Tuesday February 21st
    • Lock-Down/earthquake Drill @ 2:00
      • Look for details in an e-mail from Sarah on Monday
  • Wednesday, February 22nd
    • PTA Birthday Bash @ 10:40
    • BELLT meeting @ 3:30 w/ Dr. Roseboro
    • STEM night Q & A in the Media center @ 3:30

Equity follow - up

You were provided with the 16 submissions for your perusal at the meeting last night.  More copies are in the office with Laurie.

Here are the three prompts;

  • In your opinion, which Equity passage captured the LT, "I can collaboratively compose a passage that unpacks equity at Brunson."
