9 teachers are signed up for the Wednesday evening CPR class.  Thanks for attending for Brunson.  (Don't forget to take the $3 placed in your box for the materials).

This Friday evening, May 3rd, will be our annual Spring Fling. The event will be held on our campus from 5:00-8:00. There will be games, food trucks, raffle, face painting, and a cake walk. We are also holding 1.5-mile race at 5:30 at Hanes Park! We need volunteers for Friday’s Spring Fling. Please use the link from Stacy's email to sign-up.  In order to tighten student/parent relationships, it is important for them to see you here.

Please welcome and thank our volunteers as they come in for their appreciation breakfast.  Thanks to the staff who made/bought items for this event.

Shout-out to our Instructional Facilitators, Kathy and Su, as they organized and implemented our Kindergarten Welcome Event.

Our 2019-2020 student enrollment continues to decline and thus our teacher allotment is less than current staffing.  Now that the teacher intent period has closed, our goal is to communicate grade level teams for next year, before the transfer fair on May 4th.

Today is Administrative Professionals Day.  Please show your appreciation to Nelva (in person) and Bonnie Fogg and Tara Johnson (via email).  All of these ladies are amazing!!!

Friday, April 12th

Today is all about relationships.

  • Show compassion to students who are conflicted about spring break as they "love" the structure and consistency of school
  • Demonstrate integrity though listening to concerns big and small
  • Be respectful as you think and act positively toward yourself and others
  • Model self-regulation as you navigate the issues of the day
  • Be empathetic and acknowledge the power of your students point of view (we don't always need to be right)
The Bionic Woman is OK and resting at home.  Surgery went well and we look forward to seeing Sarah after spring break.

Here is a suggestion for Spring Break

Mr. Kirby will be here working Monday-Thursday from 6:00-2:30.  You may access the building, yet the office will be closed.  You may find you are "waxed-out" as SMO works on the halls.  Remember our custodians have first rights over the break, so we will need to be flexible.

Work in grade level Crews this afternoon to organize Better Brunson Day on May 17th.

Please click and check out what is happening in Detroit.

Ms. Perez took a phone call yesterday from a disgruntled family member regarding picture day.  She takes our best and worst everyday from students, staff, parents and administrators.  What makes yesterday different is the lifting of her voice over the phone, "I am showing you respect and I need you to show me the same."  Thanks to Mrs Perez for modeling our WSFCS Core Values and the Brunson Habits of Character.

Monday, April 8th

Twas the week before Spring Break, and all through the house, not a teacher in the .....???  So sorry,  I seem to have a "mash-up" of two stories, connected by the theme of anticipation.  Let's take our emotional response for spring break and channel it into our most powerful instructional tool, modeling.  Demonstrate for all students the habits of character that drive YOU toward excellence in the present, while basking in the anticipation of spring break.

Picture day is Tuesday, April 9th.  The schedule is posted, in the previous Blog and will be e-mailed today.

BELT meets on Wednesday with team time utilized in Crews to work on "Better Brunson Day."
