Tuesday MM - Day "A"

Happy Earth Day!

“The land ethic simply enlarges the boundaries of the community to include soils, waters, plants, and animals, or collectively: the land.”- Aldo Leopold

I have placed a short 2 page handout on this concept in the Blog documents folder if you are interested in learning more about this great thinker and author of, "A Sand County Almanac."

Progress Reports are to be delivered in toady's Tuesday packet.  Please have your Grades up-to-date in Power-school for all parents to access information to assist their children.  Retention list should be delivered to me in writing before you leave on Wednesday.  There is NO POSSIBILITY of retention for any student who is not on a hand written list handed directly to me by this date.  Our job is not complete until we have communicated effectively.

Kathy is willing to open the school Saturday for teachers whom are short on annual leave to replace time on the work days of June 20-26.  Communicate with her as she will need a critical mass to make it happen.

Brunson MM - Day "F"

Good Morning!

I am at an Elementary Principals Meeting today.  Agenda will be posted soon.

SIT was fantastic.  We had discussion and took action on the following;

  • We will review bids and select a vendor for a vending machine to be placed in the Be.Cafe at our next meeting, April 23rd
  • Monday April 21st will be a 4th quarter "C" day on the specials schedule.
  • The copy machines behind Brenda will be moved and teachers will be issued codes to make copies in a new location.  For now the working copier has been moved to the work room and the toner-less one is in the "foyer" of the ladies powder room.  More changes on work spaces will be discussed and acted upon at our next meeting
  • Dismissal will have a 2:40 "chime" that is identical to the 8:00 tone. At that time all specials will be picked up and the classrooms will be prepared so that at 2:45 we ALL can get the car riders dismissed on time.
 Enjoy the Holiday!

Tuesday MM - Day "D"

Good Evening, I am writing before bedtime as I have a Joint principals meeting in the morning.  The agenda will be posted in the blog documents folder upon my return.

Copier Shutdown is imminent. To avoid my extreme measure to curb our dependence on this resource you can immediately stop using the copy machine behind Mrs. Washam.  She has been here for 6 days and the volume of people behind her work area is unacceptable.  Each teacher has an assistant and should be well prepared to utilize that resource to make copies.  Emergencies have become the norm and I am determined to change this today.  We bumped our # of copies on contract up to 510,000 through June 30.  Last week I met with our Toshiba rep and we have already surpassed 450,000.  SIT will meet on Wednesday and create a working solution to provide appropriate access to the resources needed to serve our students.

Good Morning!

Report cards should be FINALIZED.  Damita is waiting to close and deliver to me.  We read the cards for "editing" purposes but also from the eye of a parent.  What message do you send regarding your belief in their child?  Our feedback is a critical portion of strong communication and partnership with our families.

TONIGHT we have optional Professional Development by.....STACY in the computer lab @ 3:30.  She will begin a series of sessions on Technology that will enhance instructional capacity of each teacher whom attends.  The curriculum will be driven by the needs of those who attend. PD for all our HAG teachers will be provided today by Paula Wilkins.

What is your definition of working memory?  Do you think we can teach students to improve this and other "executive functions?"  Marcella and I heard and saw direct evidence that supports the theory that excellent teachers have a growth mindset.  We will share more at our next faculty meeting on April 30th.

Good afternoon, Teachers! First of all, a huge thank you to those of you who have taken the survey! We’ve now had 407 teachers take the survey! This is about a 13.5% response rate.

As a reminder for those who have yet to take it, the survey is only for teachers who have participated in Learning Team Meetings (LTMs); it is completely anonymous and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. It is being used in the evaluation SSC for WS/FCS and will provide information about the Learning Team Meetings and what you see going on in the classroom at your school. The last day to take the survey will be Thursday, April 17th. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you so much for your help!
