Summer Blog Post #1 - June 24th

Good Morning!

Summer enrichment is off and running.  Mr. Kirby and the SMO staff are working in the mobiles while I put together a list of candidates for our open positions.  The 2015-2016 schedule will wait until July.

If you are interested in serving on a interview team, check your e-mail as I will send details as they become available.

The following information was also conveyed in an e-mail sent Monday.

Beginning on July 6, all staff will need to use NCEDCloud IAM Service to log in to HomeBase applications. That means DPI is moving us to a single log-in to use PowerTeacher, PowerStudent, SchoolNet and NCEES.

After July 6, staff and students will need to use this log-in. It will not affect parent log-ins.

What do you need to do?
  • You need to claim your account if you use PowerTeacher or any other HomeBase application.
How do you claim your account?
  • Go to https://my.ncedcloud.org and click "Claim my account"
  • Then click "LEA Employee Claim Policy"
  • Then click next
  • On the next screen, our LEA/Charter Code is 340
  • Your Staff UID is the same numeric user ID that you use for logging into PowerTeacher and PowerSchool

Still have questions? Check these three resources:

Thank you again for helping ensure all our users will be prepared to login to HomeBase applications using the IAM service after July 6.

Monday MM - June 8th

Good Morning!

Engage students in AWESOME learning this week.  They will thank you with a return on your investment in the future.  If we model that every minute is valuable, they will carry that forward.  Do not slow down.  Do not coast into the finish.  Value the NOW.

We need to have a faculty meeting this Wednesday.  Please put this on your calendar.

No testing today.

Stay away from the southern edge of the big play equipment as it is not safe for students to play upon.

Friday MM - June 5th

Good Morning!

RTA make-ups will be in Mobile 35.

Welcome to the 4th grade families here for career day in the media center.

The specials schedule for next week is posted on the board.  Mrs. Steadman has copies and it is on the shared drive in the blog documents folder.

The lunch schedule next week is only adjusted on Friday the 12th.  It is also posted on the board/office/blog documents.

The front playground equipment is closed until further notice.  A student's finger was caught in the metal grate. (she is A-OK)  We are performing repairs to the equipment and further safety evaluation before it re-opens.

From our PTA president Maggi Jackson;
  • As you may have heard the PTA is going to emphasize playground improvements with its direct donation campaign next fall. In order to prepare for that we would like to make some decisions about the kind of playground equipment to install so we can have artwork produced to put in campaign materials. We welcome your input so please let me know if you would like to be a part of the playground committee. We will most likely try to meet over the summer and share ideas and examples over email. We will begin work on a brochure so that we can get it printed in early August. If you don't feel you can meet, but would like to send me some thoughts on what would work on the Brunson playground, please email me at maggi.jackson@gmail.com. Thank you and have a great summer!

Thursday MM - June 4th

Good Morning!

RTA testing today in 3 mobiles - Spaciel, Gauss & Stoppel-Adkins.  Please keep these areas free from noise and distractions.  The front playground is back to regular schedule as the testing will be in the back of the campus.  The side playground is CLOSED.

We had a productive PTA meeting Wednesday and have budgeted the last of our funds to create an asphalt type pad for basketball and 4-square.  Work should be done over the summer!  The PTA thanks you for the support provided  with fundraising and activities.   Together we prosper.

All kindergarten through third grade teachers need to attend a vital meeting concerning "TRC" this coming Monday, June 8th, from 3:20 until 4:00.

Good Morning!

Make up Science testing will be in Tanya Lovin's room.  We will close the playground until noon.

Supervision is a critical component of PBIS.  reflect on the amount of time students are without direct supervision and take actions to make the last few days of instruction FANTASTIC.

Everyone should be eating in the cafe.  If you are planning a class event Heather must know TODAY.

We have a new face on campus today - Ana Gonzalez is our part time testing coordinator.  Some of you may remember her from the work she did with IMPRINTS and our Kindergarten Students.   Please introduce yourself as she will have her home base in the office working with Laurie in the mornings.

Thanks to Kelsey and Tonya for doing an OUTSTANDING job representing the faculty at last nights HAG meeting.
