Thursday MM - Day "E"

Good Morning!

Scenario #1

  • Mr Bean needs to look back to determine if he was charged with AL days on the 30th and 31st.  If he was, the answer will be June 26th.  If he wasn't the answer is July 1st
Scenario #2
  • Mrs Seed is very similar to Mr. Band and will work until the 26th.  Since she has a balance of AL she may elect to take any day after the 19th
Scenario #3
  • Mrs Kernal needs to work until the 26th and has earned 4 days to trade for AL.  she will need to take one AL day for the 20th and her four earned days will apply to the 23, 24, 25, & 26
I hope this helps as Brenda is working diligently to be sure you are compensated accurately and fairly.

For your consideration

Problem solving requires a acceptance of parameters and a willingness to work within the constraints.

  • Scenario #1
Mr. Bean is a fourth grade teacher who did not work on the optional teacher work days, January 30th or 31st.  He has no AL days in his account as he is in his 2nd year of teaching.

Q. What is his last day of employment for this year?
  1. June 26th
  2. June 19th
  3. July 1st
  4. June 30th

  • Scenario #2
Mrs. Seed is a Third grade teacher who worked the optional teacher work days, January 30th or 31st.  She has plenty of AL days as she is in her 26th year of teaching.

Q. What is her last day of employment for this year?
  1. June 26th
  2. June 19th
  3. July 1st
  4. June 30th

  • Scenario #3
Mrs. Kernal is a second grade teacher who worked the optional teacher work days, January 30th or 31st.  She has plenty of AL days as she is in her 17th year of teaching.  She also worked the PTA ground beautification and 3 days of Spring break.

Q. She wants the 19th to be her last day. How many annual leave days does she need to apply?
  1. Zero
  2. One

Monday MM - Day "B"

Good Morning!

This is a critical week for instruction.  The priority is to leverage the relationships you have built with students over the previous 150 days to build a fortress of academic confidence.  Just like California Chrome, we want to finish STRONG.

Friday MM - Day "A"

Good Morning!

Today's rotation will be the last LTM's of the year.  We are moving to a hybrid PLC/LTM, supported with 4 days of summer PD.  The WSFCS roll-out of the new collaborative model begins on our first Early Release day, September 10th, 2014.

The Refrigerator(s) will be cleared and cleaned tonight at 4pm.  All items left after 4pm will be discarded.

We really need your help! As you know Brenda is working on the last teacher payroll of the year. As you also know all teachers are scheduled to work until June 26. This in essence means we are “pre-paying” teachers almost a month in advance. Please make every effort to submit your intentions around absences between now and June 26, so that we can ensure that we do not overpay any employee.

Many of you have already reported the projected absences, THANK YOU! The rest of you have until Monday, May 19th at noon, to have the absences communicated to Brenda.

Thanks for your efforts in helping us serve our employees fairly and accurately.

Thursday MM - Day "F"

Good morning!

Thanks for coming to the test training and for being attentive.  I appreciate you being open to change and making it work.  Make sure your kids are aware of the changes and procedures so there are no surprises.  Thanks again,
Kathy

PBIS -
1.  Ms. Hicks was on campus today.  She will send the SET results soon - I have a good feeling about them.  I'll keep you posted.

2.  Our next ReCOGnition is Friday, May 30 in the afternoon.  We will have 4th grade hosting activities for K, 1 and 2.  We will also have the First Annual Brunson Film Fest for all 3rd, 4th HAG, and all 5th grades.  Remember those film shorts y'all made back in August.  Oh yeah....

3.  Our last Mix It Up:
With little time and many things on the calendar we will not have a school wide MIU day.  However, we would like each team to meet (Big buddy with Little buddy) and have a closing ceremony/ celebration sometime between now and the end of the year.  Ideas?  Have a social, sign each others MIU shirts, share what MIU means to you, what have you gained, why do we do it?

4.  The PBIS team is planning a wonderful end of year celebration.  It's gonna be nice and classy just like our faculty.  More details later.

Wednesday MM - Day "E"

  • Then proctors may leave
  • Administrator training will run until at least 4:30
  • Please be sure you have read the Admin Guides before coming
  • Proctors and administrators will need to sign in
  • I will have a pre-printed list; just sign beside your name
Looking forward to it, Kathy Wilheit

SIT agenda and minutes are posted on the Blog documents folder.  We are working on our Title One prioritized plan and will finalize the budget at our next meeting May 27th.  Please give your representative input.

Good News - The source of the water leak behind Mrs. Ray's Mobile has been identified.  The maintenance folks from our district have been using the EDP to solve this real world problem.  Bad News - They will need to wait for additional support from the city to finish the project.  Mrs. Ray will be assimilated into the other 4th grade classes for the remainder of the week as we need two working exits in each mobile classroom.

I am at a Elementary principals meeting Thursday and have posted the agenda in the Blog documents folder.

Monday MM - Day "C"

Good Morning!

Thanks for all the support and interaction for our  fantastic spring fling event on Friday.

HAG tours conclude this week with 8:30 events today and Wednesday.

Tuesday, each teacher delivers Progress reports and we double up on meetings with SIT & PBIS after school.

Wednesday, ALL STAFF is required to participate in EOG training after-school.

From Kathy last week;
The test admin guides are here. I will have them ready for distribution by Wednesday. The expectation stated in the manual is that you will read through it before coming to test training, so I am giving them to you a week ahead of time. Please highlight the “SAY”s before our training on the 14th—I will spend very little time in that section.

Thursday MM - Day "A"

Good Morning!

I am with Jenny this morning at the Annual Counselor/Principal breakfast.  The Piedmont Club is not ready for us!  I promise I will be on my best behavior, though that means I may be "animated" upon my return to campus.

Welcome to the World of Title I
The district will serve schools down to the 50% poverty threshold, which adds the following schools to the family;
  • Smith Farms
  • Moore
  • Kimmel Farm
  • Paisley
  • Brunson
  • Glenn High
  • Rural Hall
  • Union Cross
Another advantage of our inclusion is the access to programs like:

Title I Summer School

Title I will offer a summer enrichment and acceleration camp from July 14-July 31, (12 days, no Fridays). This summer camp will be designated for all current Title I 2nd graders (rising3rd graders). We will also invite current Title I 1st graders (rising 2nd graders) to the Title I summer camp. The summer camps will be offered at Free Lunch sites from 8:00-3:00 pm, piggybacking on transportation already set up with Read to Achieve. Save the date fliers will be mailed to parents of Title I students within a couple of weeks. We will consult with principals of the tutoring sites. We ask that laptops and or desktops are available for use during the summer camp.

Follow up to Funky Friday Instrument Making

Last Friday was a sensational day.  I was impressed by the kids engagement and moved by the multitude of lessons learned.  Thanks to Joel, James, Jamie, Cindy, Stacy and a host of volunteers who made it happen.

If you have not seen the Landfill Harmonic before check out this video.  It ties right in to the power of music. It is an appropriate clip for kids, though it is subtitled, so either good for older kids or be ready to read the subtitles.  It is worth a watch.

Gifts may be in the form of cash, check, credit or debit card, or payroll deduction.

Please complete a pledge card and place it in the UNCF envelope behind Dr. Willie Stevenson’s desk in the office before May 29. Let me know if I can help you in any way.
