Monday, January 30th

This is the first and only Monday in January that students will be present.
  • 2nd was a holiday
  • 9th was a snow day
  • 16th was a holiday
  • 23rd was a PD work day
As we head into the stretch of 44 days of uninterrupted learning, I encourage you to think and plan strategies for your pace. A steady drive that is sustainable is my goal to ensure my actions are consistent. In at 7:00 and out before 5:30 working on issues that will gain an increase in student achievement across all three domains. Feel free to share your plan to achieve success as this is an opportunity to establish rhythm.
  • EBOB class competitions continue this week in the media center
  • The JL puppet show for 3rd grade students is Wednesday
  • Safe travels to Melanie, Allison, Brenda and Trish as they attend EL Education PD in Atlanta later this week
    • Reading and Writing Grounded in Evidence: Upper Elementary
    • This institute introduces participants to a text-based framework for teaching evidence-based reading and writing, with a focus on the new standards for analyzing informational text and writing opinion (3-6) or argument (6-12). Participants will experience reading about a compelling topic and writing an evidence-based opinion/argument. They will leave the institute with a conceptual framework for the important connection between reading and writing as well as a plan for designing and implementing deeper reading and evidence-based writing instruction for students.
  • Dr. Karen Roseboro will visit on Friday to progress monitor my mid-year PDP goals. (we hope to spend time in classrooms as well)

Tuesday January 24th

Welcome to our EL Education Mid-Year Review!

I enjoyed our PD Monday.  I specifically grew in my ability to use craftsmanship as I create learning targets.  I also developed a mindset to examine my beliefs with the MAC book.

Spelling Bee is Wednesday -   Congrats to the room champions!
