Optional Thursday

So Thursday is optional?  What should TEACHERS do?  Let me help you with 2 options.

  1. Every full-time certified teacher will report to Brunson for a 7 hour work-day as we will be open between the hours of 7:30 and 5:00.  You choose the seven hours and prioritize the work that you need to accomplish.
  2. OR you do not report to Brunson and one Annual Leave Day or Personal Day will be deducted form your balance.

We (teachers) do not have any other choices.  The day is similar to January 21st a Rs day where you are expected to work or take leave.  We will not make up today or tomorrow with students, so if we are to get paid, we work, or take leave.

TEACHER ASSISTANTS and PRT's are not expected to report to work and will not be charged an Annual Leave day.  The 183 day work calendar for these employees will shift and allow these valued employees to work when kids are present and at the end of the year to assist with organization of documents.

So the only other clarification I can make is with regards to our new teachers without 4 years of service.  TEN AL days are earned throughout the year and used on the designated L days.  If you are not sure if your leave balance will cover your staying home, relax there are plenty of L days that your could work in place of reporting to work Thursday.  Three of the days during Spring Break and 2 days after we dismiss are designated L days that we can adjust for you.

Bottom Line - BE SAFE and make whatever decision fits you.  We will make adjustments on a case by case basis to ensure that each of us has an accurate record which reflects the actual days worked here at Brunson.
