FEBRUARY is The Arts Council Campaign for WS/FCS!

With the WS/FCS teachers extraordinary help each year, The Arts Council’s Community Fund for the Arts provides operational support to 28 arts and culture organizations in the community, including Reynolda House, Bookmarks, North Carolina Black Repertory Company, RiverRun International Film Festival, and many others. Collectively, these organizations create nearly one million art experiences for Forsyth County residents each year.
We also fund $100,000 Arts in Education in the schools every year that reach nearly 38,000 students and include such opportunities as a play about Harriet Tubman to middle school students, a performance of “STEM The Musical,” African Drumming and dancing, author visits with Bookmarks, and classes on weaving, calligraphy, Chinese painting, papermaking, brass instruments, string instruments, ceramics, basket-making, weaving and so much more.
Campaign Incentives:
All WS/FCS employees that donate a dollar per pay period will be entered into a drawing for a staycation in Asheville. Two nights at the Grand Bohemian, two tickets to the Biltmore Summer Outdoor Park Series, and a $200 Visa gift card, so you can eat wherever you choose. The second drawing will be for a $250 Target gift card and the third drawing will be for a $100 gift card. The school that reaches 100% participation will win a Bookmarks Author visit and $250 worth of books for its school library.

Last year, these were the winners:
  • Asheville Package – Heather Bontrager, Sedge Garden Elementary
  • $250 Target gift card – Angela Dillon-Williard, Petree Elementary
  • $100 Target gift card – Melissa Ann Moore, Morgan Elementary
  • Bookmarks Author Visit & $250 in books – Easton Elementary
Thank you! Together we can be sure that the arts touch all corners of Forsyth County!
