The
impending transition at the end of the year creates stressors that manifest in
aberrant behaviors. We must increase our supervision to support all
students.
- Be early to all your supervisory responsibilities
- Engage students in positive interactions
- Put your phones away
- Everybody works arrival and dismissal
- Specialists and IF’s, now free of PLT duty, will
support car riders and bus dismissal in areas of highest need
- Drop off and pick up specials on time
- Be intentional with your movement at recess
- Arrive and leave the lunch room on time
- Create goal times for bathroom breaks
My
final request for this topic:
- Engaging a student who is struggling with behavior
should start with feedback that is Kind, Specific and Helpful.
- When we begin our correction to a student with, “What
are you thinking?” They see our judgmental body language and facial
expressions as Harsh, Vague and Debilitating
