EOG updates

On Monday I attended training for EOGs. There are a couple of messages I want to get out early .
1. Just like last year, we will be following the local policy for using EOG reading, math and science scores as part of a student's grade in elementary schools. Per the revised AR5123, Promotion and Retention: "Elementary School EOG tests will be used to improve a student's final grade in the fourth quarter for the subject tested, but will not be used to reduce a student's grade." That information will go home with the EOG test date letter.

2. The test dates are May 14-17. There will not be a separate day for background. There is no survey this year, so the background is incorporated into the first day.

3. It is imperative that we start as early in the day as possible. By 8:45, you must be saying, "Today we are taking the NC EOG test of ____." If you are not currently in that mode, start teaching your students now to eat, go to the bathroom and be READY!

4. I'm currently recruiting proctors. A message went home in the Brunson Burner inviting parents to assist. If someone asks you about it, please ask them to e-mail me. Proctors must be 18 years old, not in K-12 education, and not proctoring in their child's class (I prefer another grade level).

5. Fifth grade test administrators: I will offer training for the science test at planning time May 1, 8:30 and 2:00, or after the reading/math training. It will be a short training as the front of the book is the same as rdg/math.

6. All test administrators: reading and math training are April 30 OR May 3 after school. Plan to stay until 4:30.

Thank you for all your work to make testing run as smoothly as possible!
